Café Portico · 2 York St, Sydney

Three directions,
one cafe.

Their menu — 30 dishes and 44 drinks, $8.50 to $34 — currently exists only as text baked into two JPEGs. It cannot be searched, selected, or read by a screen reader. Each direction below fixes that differently.

Built from the cafe's own menu card, website and Google listing. Unsolicited demo — not affiliated with Café Portico.

First Light

Cinematic, motion-led

One long page choreographed to the arc of a short working day — doors at 7.00am, kitchen done by 2.30pm. Their 29 plates are the medium: pinned scrub sequences, clip-path reveals, a velocity marquee.

Portico

Scroll as a journey

The address is the idea: the cafe is at 2 York St but you enter through the portico at 42-44 Margaret Street. Scroll walks you in off the street, past the alfresco tables, to the pass. One procedural colonnade, no texture files.

The menu, done properly

The anti-spectacle direction. Their printed card rebuilt in live type — filterable, searchable, deep-linkable, printable to a usable A4. No animation library at all.
